Before I get into the incredible story about Peak Design and the Camera Body and Lens carry systems I am going to give you a very tiny bit of history because it will give you some idea as to what goes around, comes around in A MUCH BETTER WAY, especially when a bunch of young people with incredible talent not only planned and developed and marketed their first product, but have continued to build a working system around the original product.
I have been around the photography industry for quite some time which has given me a a great seat up front in the industry theater to watch things develop.
Two things come to mind that I consider life changing when it came to carrying lenses for quick access.
The first was the Nikon FB-8 camera bag. It had a metal plate with 3 female mounts screwed into the bottom of the bag which allowed the mounting of 3 Nikon/Nikkor lenses and allowed quick access to the lens you needed while also providing a secure mount to attach the lens you removed from your camera. AA lot of photographers kept one mount empty for a quick remount.
OKAY FOLKS, DON’T STOP READING JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK THIS OLD MAN IS DOING WHEELIES IN HIS SOUPED UP NON LITHIUM WHEELCHAIR.
The other method sort of had the same philosophy. A tech rep at Nikon was working with me in the field and I noticed that he did not have a regular camera bag but a small Domke messenger bag. And when he was changing lenses he reached down in the bag and pulled two lenses out at the same time. What he had done was glued (Epoxy type) two Nikon rear caps together and each side took a Nikon F lens, i.e. 180mm and 50mm. This let him comfortably stack two lenses for quick access as well. Of course you can do all of this with any two rear lens mounts.
ENTER STAGE MIDDLE, THE PEAK DESIGN CAPTURE LENS KITS FOR SONY, NIKON AND CANON LENS MOUNTS.
Like all the other Peak Design products the Capture Lens is amazingly constructed, smoothly allowing you to rotate from one lens to the other for quick and secure lens changing and it all simply tucks away on your belt, camera strap, camera bag or camera bag strap, not to forget the back pack strap, etc. so that it is always available.
